new head

i got a 87 crx si n it backfires like crazy so i went to look at the timing redid the belt n no change, so i wanna change the head off n wanted to know if a D series head froma 90 civic would work? i have a few layin around but dont seem likely bein the size of it...

short answer, no. long answer go to redpepperracing.com and search for a guy named eldo. he has a D series (i'm pretty sure) head that the has machined to fit. basically one of the head bolt holes has to be elongated and an oil runner elongated as well. i have seen the head on the EW block but he has not gone so far as to make it run yet. it's an ongoing project he has going at his shop. you also have to keep in mind the wiring and details like that for the distributor
