Climate Control Knobs

The knob that controls the switching between the vent, the floor and the defrost recntly broke on my 2001 X. It used to be really hard to turn and it finally gave way. Does anyone know if this is an easy fix or should I just go the mechanic route. I would really like to not pay too much.......please let me know if you know anyhting at all about this problem.

Just wondering if you were able to figure this one out. I did the same to mine. Thanks!!!!

I did figure it out....I figured out to take it to the mechanic. I turned out that they had to replace the whole assembly that is inside the dash. It was all covered under my warranty...so I am not sure the exact cost. I guess if you are great with cars, you could take the dash off yourself and try to fix it. I have read other posts that this is not the smarest option though unless you really know what you are doing.
