over head console question

alright guys, i got me an overhead console, with the self dimming mirror at a junk yard for $45 back in the summer. i just put it in place and the only thing that works on it is the dome light. i do have the wiring harness to make it work but i just want to make sure that it will just plug into my harness in my 90 camaro and work. it came from a 88-90 iroc, the dome light should be one of those that stays on for a few seconds and then fades to off, now i know to take the dash pad out of my car and take the driver side pillar out, now if i plug the harness in for the over head console and hook it up right including the mirror, will it all work with my 90 models wiring. will the dome light dim out like it should after the door is closed

Re: over head console question

I think the standard overhead light uses the same gauge wiring as the console did. They stopped making those consoles in 87 too though and mine unplugs right above the mirror basically.

You got the pins to mount it too?? I think you should just have to tap the holes and thread them in.

Re: over head console question

nope, its comes with some little I shaped locks that just slide into the slots that are already in the roof of your car, that is if you have a t top car. all t top cars from 85-92 has the slots and hols already cut out.

Re: over head console question

that thing looks kindof cool, i was thinking if i could get it to fit into my fourth gen, but was wondering if it would first fit and second if it was worth the effort...

Re: over head console question

it is a reminder spool, has several different things to remind you about, engine service, trips, mileage, the thing that sucks about it is you have to do it by hand.

Re: over head console question

Dont forget theres 2 different versions. One for ttops and one for hardtops. One of them, i think the hardtop has a big curve to it while the ttop one I think is fairly straight. One might fit a 4th gen but you would have to do some custom work to mount it. If you went through that much trouble I would suggest getting a nice digital one from another car.
