Re: installing alarms

It depends on your expertise in electronics. Anyone can install an alarm when things go well. It is when you have to diagnose a problem is where I see people have the problem. Also, having the right tools is the difference in the world! If you have a newer car, I would strongly urge you to go to a professional. Paying someone extra to do it right in a few hours is worth an entire day to me. You can look up your car's wiring at www.bulldogsecurity.com

I work at a shop that does alarm installs as well as remote start and what not and my opinion is get a pro to do it. Or really do your research. I have been there only a few weeks and so alarms are still new to me but when i see pros do it and still have trouble on occasion it makes me think its not the best job for an amature.
If you are going to do it yourself one tool you def need to invest in is a line tester. Although online wiring guides are a good start I can not tell you how many times they have been incorrect. With a line tester you can check to make sure the wires really are for what the online guide claims they are for.
There are many other things that will help an alarm install go correctly and who better then a pro to know these things. Unless your really brave and poor send it to a shop.
