Alternator Rebuild
Does anybody know roughly how much it will take to rebuild an alternator. I have at least 3 in my garage that stopped charging correctly. And since new ones are about $150+ I wouldn't mind rebuilding a couple of these so I have extras.

But really the only thing you can replace in a cost effective manner is the brushes (about $25 a pop). If anything else is wrong the cost in parts is more than a whole rebuilt unit. In that case just bring them to the junkyard. GL |
