99 Sable Starting Issues

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and was trying to get some information about problems that I am having with my car. I will try and give all the details I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 99 Sable (Duratech Engine) that is having problems starting in the morning or anytime the engine is cold. It will still start but takes an extra 3 to 4 seconds to do so. I went to autozone to check the battery and it tested fine. The gentleman there suggested that it could be an issue with the spark plugs and wires. They are both the original and the cars has 97,000 miles.

When the engine is warn the problem goes away. I was wondering what anyone thinks this could be. Is it the right step to try and replace the plugs and wires or would I be better off looking in a different direction, like maybe the fuel regulator?

Please let me know. THANK YOU!!!

Re: 99 Sable Starting Issues

I had the opposite happen to me. At 100K my car ran terribly when it was hot. And sometimes wouldn't start. As soon as I changed the plugs and wires the car went back to runnng normal.
