How much does the 3S-GTE weigh?

Yeah just wondering how much the 3S-GTE weighs in pounds. Complete motor, with the ECU and all the hook ups.

maybe because he wants to swap one in a zzt celica, since the zzt is all about light weight.

Oh OK, didnt know that. Well unless your into competition racing what does it matter? I know the 3S-GTE engine is powerfull but its getting old now, surely more modern engines with lighter compounds/alloys etc would be of course ...lighter! But he dosnt say what its going into, what year car its going into, what its for, why or anything, just how musch does it wiegh, so my origional question still stands......Why would you wanna know that?

The 3SGTE is kind of old but not that much, they still use the N/A version of it (3SGE) in cars such as the ALTEZZA.

I wanna know because I'm comparing it to the b18 engine. I'm kinda keeping secret of what car I'm putting it in, but it's not a toyota or a honda. Although Toyota kicks ass, and that's where I'm leaning, this is just a comparison.

Hmmm sounds interesting, well the whole car wieghs in at 1675Kg which is 3685Lbs if you compare the weight difference to a normal Celica ST. then what you get left with can be mostly put down to 4wd system gearbox etc and of course the extra parts on the engine. then find out the weight of an ST engine (I`m sure someone here will know as enough people claim to have done engine replacements), then add on to the wieght of the engine to what you got from subtracting the wieght of the Celica ST from the GT4 and that will give you a very rough idea of what the engine and gearbox weigh, subtract a few 100lbs for the 4wd mechanism.......Bingo there you have it, and if that isnt perfectly clear you could always ring up Toyota and ask. Now wheres that number!!!!!

im guessing that the 3sgte is heavier than the b18 honda engine.

i would say so, yes, what with a turbo, intercooler etc probably quite a bit heavier.

yea even a 3SGE should weigh much more than a B18 since if my memory serves me right B series are alluminum blocks while the 3S are cast iron, that alone will make the engine heavier (since both are DOHC). Then add on the turbo parts etc. and it's even heavier. You could always counter out the weight by shifting stuff. Like moving the battery to the trunk, fiber glass hood, etc.

a 3sgte is 78 pounds heavyer than the 5sfe, 5sfe wieghs 385 pounds.... celica st weghs 2500 pounds
