For you users of the Nav system, when you install the disc, how long does it take for your system to load?
Mine seems to take forever. Sometimes it delays then I get "CD error" message. This is exceptionally annoying as I bought the Denali to have the Nav system as I am on the road as part of business.

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
I have the same problem you are having, the nav does take forever for it to read and mine craps out too sometimes with that Disk error.

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
WhiteDenali,
Well I am trying to avoid the dealer. You know how this will turn out, they will try it a couple of times and say "No Problem", then I am back out on the road pissin and moaning....Sadly this will not throw an error code so you are stuck with the proverbial '"My Nav system does not work right". I hate the fact you have to leave it all day, rent a car on your own nickel only to have them call you and say "Unable to confirm customer complaint" I still say that if your car is going back to the dealer for warranty repair they should offer you a car for YOUR inconvenience. If you are dropping off for service than you should rent the car.... Hopefully someone has had same issues and had it looked at.......

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
When you say "install the disc"--do you mean that you're sticking the disc into the slot, or are you referring to when the nav system initializes every time you start your truck (meaning of course that the nav disc has never been removed from the head unit since the very first time you stuck it in)?
I can only speak on the latter, as I've never had a need to remove the nav disc ever since I bought my truck; as such, from the time I start my vehicle it takes about 10 seconds (IIRC) before I see the map screen--assuming of course the head unit is set to display nav and not some other function like radio or CD. Otherwise, I'd say a bad disc or a bad reader--both of which should/can be rectified by the dealer. If you're concerned about the dealer giving you the dreaded "unable to confirm" message--I'd wait for the problem to show up again, then drive right to the dealer and show it to them so that they know that you're just not making it up or imagining it; even if they can't do something about it right away, at least they cannot dispute that there is an issue with it. If the dealer won't even do this, then go to another dealer; FWIW--this is what my dealer suggested to me whenever I complained about them telling me that they couldn't reproduce the problem even though it was obvious... |

I agree with Tony Tone, I never remove mine.

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
Well followed TonyTone recommendations leaving the disc in. Problem still exists. Dropping off vehicle this Thursday. Going to cost me $32 dollars for a rental car.....Not the 32 bucks is a big deal but it is the principle of the matter that if it is a warranty repair GM ought to pick up the tab.
Thanks for everybodies input

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
Duramax--if the dealer does wind up holding your vehicle overnight or wait until the very end of the day to call you that it's ready...they definiteily should pick up the rental car tab.

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
On mine when I brought in it in because it took 24 hours they gave me a Yukon XL no charge plus they even picked up the gas, they just told me to print out a receipt.

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
I will ask them on Thursday when I drop off. If they are going to keep it overnight then I would like a suitable vehicle for the day. One of the problems that exists my wife needs a vehicle as she is on the road visiting clients. When she drops off the Denali she needs a car that minute. I suspect this may be where the debate will begin. She will have to rent one. They may have it completed at the end of the day I drop it off , but that still would leave her carless for the day unless she rents.

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
I hear ya on that--it sucks to be put in that dilemma (being forced to rent a vehicle out of your own pocket due to temporarily loss of primary vehicle)...

The dealer told me they could not replicate the problem when I took it to them for my Nav problem. After they had my truck all day, luckily, when I went to leave the disc error popped up and I was able to show someone. Unfortunatly, all the techs had already left so I had to bring the truck back the next day. Thats when they sent my radio out like I stated in another thread on this topic (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=295990).

Re: Time for Nav system to load???
Bump for Duramax--FWIW I recently acquired a version 3.0 disc; the first time I stuck it in, it did take about 10 minutes (maybe even a bit less than that) before the map screen appeared--most likely due to loading "newer" (3.0 instead of 2.0) firmware. Later on, I took it (the 3.0 disc) out to see how much data is on it; after putting it back into the nav unit, it took about a minute before the map screen appeared.
Based on the above, sounds like either your disc is defective; or more likely, an issue with the reader (i.e., lens) itself. One other thing you might want to consider--does the problem manifest itself in a very cold environment (e.g., truck parked outside in really cold weather), or perhaps it could be that the lens may have some condensation due to humidity/cold? |

It takes me like 10 - 15 seconds to load.
I got a quest. Can you play a DVD movies on the navigation, you know since its a Navigation DVD disc? |
