engine sawp
alright, i have a 96 eclipse rs and right now its pretty beat up, whoever had it before me treated this baby like crap, so im looking to do an engine swap, but i wanted to get some opinions on this ... should i just swap them or should i have the engine i have now rebuilt? keep in mind im not rich (if i was i wouldnt be having this problem) so what would not only be better for the car but easier on my pocket aswell. also if anyone knows of any good places that sell newer engines for eclipses or can rebuild an engine that is near the norther new york area that would be great.
thanks -mike- |

Re: engine sawp
ok i take it you have already read the "read this before you post" sticky thread. As you read in that, the only engine that will work is the same one you have. Thats the Chrysler 420a engine.
Now as far as if rebuilding would be a better option than swapping in a new or slightly used 420a, that depends. Do you know the problem with yours? Do you have the means to do a swap or rebuild yourself? I always like rebuilding better than a swap, because then you can use the exact parts you want and know its all put together right. As far as were to buy a engine if you decide to swap, I would check ebay as well as dsmtrader.com You can also try car-parts.com i think it is. Theres all sorts of links in the FAQ sticky... check it out do some research. peace
