Re: any help
You talking about getting a mechanical oil pressure gauge?

Re: any help
Durrr, didn't pay attention to that one, sorry. Could you simply run a T-fitting then have one lead go to your current gauge and the other go to the new one? I don't think the ECU checks for oil pressure.

Re: any help
i dunno ill have to check into it i was also wondering if i change the sending unit to the new and use the old wiring cause then it would run thro the ECU and just connect the wires to my new gauge.

Re: any help
You would have to find the impedence/voltage and several other factors but I would imagine it could be done. I don't have my diagram here, but does the oil pressure signal run through the ECU?

Re: any help
The oil pressure acts as a backup to start the fuel pump...if for some reason the fuel pump doesn't recieve the signal from the ECM when the ignition is turned on, it will recieve the signal once there is oil pressure. This also is what the fuel pump relies on once the car is running to keep the pump going.

Re: any help
FierceGT is right, trouble is, I've read in one book that the car will NOT run without the sending unit working, the other said it was only a backup source of power for the pump. The sucky part is neither book shows this circuit in the wiring diagrams. Assuming it's only a backup, disconnecting it would do no harm. On the other hand.....

Re: any help
Being pretty handy with wiring, I'll take a peek at mine this weekend and try and figure out if it needs to be bypassed, and if so how to bypass it.
