Lids...

I was wondering how much better the ram air setup on the LS1 WS6's is compared to the ram air setup on the LT1's? Or is the LT1 setup better? I know the LS1 feeds through the bottom and the LT1 goes through the top. And say that both filters are the same size...I know LS1's are bigger but just imagine there the same.

Re: Lids...

Actually the one with the shortest straightest intake would be the better considering Ram Air in theory is not actually possible unless your traveling at Mach 1(no not the Mustang)

From what I've been told, the ram air on the LS1 is more restrictive than it was on the LT1 because the LT1s set up was more direct.

Re: Lids...

Yeah I been over the whole ram air is just a sales gimmick thing...and I understand it, but it is the best cold air induction you can get.

Re: Lids...

And I think the LT1's ram air is less restrictive too, but why would they change it and make it more restrictive.

Re: Lids...

Actually not true, The best Cold air system you could get would collect air from under the car and not from the heated up engine bay. Its simple theory - Heat rises warmer/lighter air over hood and colder more dense air under car.

They probably changed it because the LT1 ram air hood had the scoops up farther on the hood, the LS1 had the scoops at the front of the hood. With the LS1 scoops set farther forward the air had to enter the box from the front and not the top. Basically they opted for the looks of the hood over the functionality of the hood.

Re: Lids...

yeah but if your getting the air from under the car it is having to flow a lot further than from the hood.

Re: Lids...

I would take those looks over functionality too.

Thats what I meant by bling bling , They went over function for a nicer style hood in there opinion not mine

In all honesty the power gain from a ram air set up or a CIA are about the same, besides a ram air hood is more of a cosmetic upgrade.

Re: Lids...

The rounder style of the LS1 type firebird is nicer is my opinion but I prefer the cowl stlye ram air look of the LT1 ram air hood over the cheap bar through the center part of bumper looking ram air LS1 hood. The LT1 hood just makes it look old school bad ass but like I said its just what I personally think there is no right or wrong answer there.

They are ok I suppose. I can't really say how they stack up against other brands though. When I bought the car it has totally bald tires so I put these on like 2 weeks after I bought it so they're the only tire's I've ever had on it. I do like the way they look though and I've had people comment on them.
