Re: twin turbo kit for trans am?

You know I'm not too sure about company's making a twin turbo for a LS1 but to tell you the truth there most likely isn't one only because of that much pressure with the already high compression ratio would be very destructive but I will look into it and give you a answer for sure tommorow.

Re: twin turbo kit for trans am?

i appreciate it John, i was thinking the same thing about pushing 10+ psi in a car with a high compression ratio, but i was looking through the video section and the twin turbo ta on there looks pretty damn mean lol

Re: twin turbo kit for trans am?

Re: twin turbo kit for trans am?

I actually just sent a PM to one of the Turbo specialist people we have here over at AF and he should be able to tell you what it would take to run that pressure with current set up when he signs in. and I will have to check out that video now.

I know that Lingenfelter makes a twin turbo kit for the LS1 vette. I've heard of a few people with twins on LS1 F-Bodys but I can't remember where they got them from. I've also heard of people with them on LT1s as well.

Yeah or else the motor wouldn't last too long. You would need forged internals and lower compression pistons to run a high amount of boost.

Re: twin turbo kit for trans am?

I would go supercharger over turbo only because you never need to spool up a supercharger and you would save soooooooo much money.

I agree, besides I like the whine of a super charger more than i like the sound of a blow off valve. I heard a trans am with a super charger on it and it absolutely screamed.

As far as turbocharging an LS1 It is possible to run 10-13 PSI with the stock compression and pump gas. As long as you have good intercooling and Alchohl injection. Since the LS1 is all alumimum. (Cant spell) It does not have a pre-deat. problem, as long as you CLOSLY keep an eye on pre-deat. The LS1 connecting rods don't like knock all that much. Also you would have to get LS1 edit or equivalent.

Turbos are sooo worth the extra time and money. to spin a supercharger at 10 PSI would require like 70-90 HP depending on what type of supercharger you use. A turbo would only use 3-5 HP to huff out 10 PSI. Less parisitic load.

All of this is pretty basic sooo if you have anymore questoins, let me know.

P.S. Yea formula, I remember him. That was funnier than hell.
