Re: Water in the trunk (1997)

buy a new lenght of the rubber molding shiat.... it pulls right off... so just bring it to a dealer and say... i need a new one of these or the part # for it, so i can get a price well under you at a different store.... ha ha.... my dealership hates me, becuase i know there game and i don't play it with them...when they try to charge me 2.5 hrs of labor to replace a valve gasket cover...LMAO... and when they said they replaced the LF strut mount when i first bought it....i made a mark on the old one and amazingly...it was still there after they so called did the work, so when i approached them to see the old one i got um, " we threw it out" when i know damn well it wasn't ( only 20 min later) .... I called the police and got them involved... lets just say.. the mechanic and the service manager are no longer workin there and i got a free strut mount installed followed by a 4 wheel aligment....and they got a nice report the the BBB.... Sometime guys you need to watch these people.... let alone i do not go back the dealership anymore for minor crap like that anymore.... " note for everyone out there if your suspecious of their work, question to see the old part and why it malfunctioned before you pay for anything... sometime it can save you wallet."

Re: Water in the trunk (1997)

I've sprayed it with a hose to see where water is coming from (the liner of my trunk is out) and its coming from the antenna, a few rusted spots where the back bumper is and from the driver side (bacK) wheel well. (maybe i can snap some pictures tomorrow and post them)

I was gonna sell my car and just get one without a leak, because i find it alot of hassle to fix it. anyone know a good cheap car (that could be cheaply fixed up to look decent)

Re: Water in the trunk (1997)

I've got the same problem with a leaky trunk on my 95. I've replaced the rubber seal around trunk, but to no avail. Water seems to be coming in only in the trunk on drivers side. it doesn't seem to be coming from the tail lights either. Anyone have any ideas, or should I buy some koi to go with my pond in my spare tire well?

Yeah my seals got messed up on my passenger door and I went to the car wash and... let's just say....that's how I found out they were messed up.

Very often the problems are leaking windows, broke seam sealers, tail lights. It's very easy to blame the trunk gasket and 99% of the time it has nothing to do with it.The best way to find leaks is to gut the interior trim panels, crawl in,take a flashlight and have a friend close the deck lid and hose it down with water.Once you find it,goop it up.
