Spoiler dew
My spoiler's always getting wet or having dew on it while the rest of the car is dry. Does this happen to anyone else? And why is that???

ya happens to me too, i think it's because its plastic and on top of the car and it probably holds the water on it's surface better than metal does. Funny you should say that, never really thought about it before.

Re: Spoiler dew
It has to do with the fact that it's colder than the surounding air and so the dew point is reached earlier in its boundry layer. But that leaves the question of why is it colder? I bet it's because of the fact that it's plastic and plastic is less dense so it dosent hold its temprature well.

Re: Spoiler dew
Knight2040, I have the flat spoiler ('94 SL) so I think it's like yours. And good to know that my car aint the only one that does that...but umm....doesn't the dew make oxidize it or whatever more quickly--like the paint loses color faster?

It wont oxidize cause its plastic buy yeah it'll eat throught the clear coat and dull the paint. Solution: good wax to protect that paintjob. I use rainx wax which is cheap but then again my number one concern here is the rain! I live around so much salt water that all that salt ends up ontop of my car and destroying my paint.

Re: Spoiler dew
If you wanna save your wiper blades, put rainx on your windshield too, once you hit 50 or 60mph, it just streaks right off the top of your car.

Re: Spoiler dew
rain x is awesome. you apply it by spray or with a wipe. rub it in with a damp cloth in circles, then buff it off. do that three times. for awhile I wasn't using the wipers at all. you probably should use wipers at all times but really with rain x it's not necessary.
