crankshaft posisition sensor

96 Sierra vortex. Manual said 5 VAC sig out while cranking, I get only 2.2 VAC. Is this normal for this type of magnetic pickup. Also anyone got ball park ohms on this device Thanks to anyone that has the skull for this.
