2.2L Engine to a 2.5RS Engine

I currently have a subaru Impreza 2.2L Sedan. Unfortunatley my car just broke down yesterday, what is wrong with it I don't know, but I blieve what happened was all my oil somehow leaked out and maybee blew a cylinder. I will get my car towed to see what is actually wrong with it soon. If worse comes to worse and I need a new Engine. Since I have a 2.2L engine I was thinking hey why not get a 2.5RS engine.

I noticed that they did not make a 2.5RS engine until 1998, and my car is a 1996. Would I still be able to get a 2.5RS engine, what would be involved if I were to get one?

Re: 2.2L Engine to a 2.5RS Engine

yes you can put a 2.5rs engine into the 2.2l car, you just need to rewire the wire harness to work with your ECU. i heard its about 6 wires to splice, hope this helps

the 2.5 engine can be found for around 5-600
