I'm getting to my Freaking midterm on TIME!

Ok, last night I discover we have a midterm...yeah I should go to class more...however it is in an intro comp science class I'm taking for an easy 4 credits...I'm graduating...I don't care that much (you get the idea). So I review my minimalistic notes for 20 mins while watching MTV...great now I'm set...no problem.
This morning I wake up 50 mins before class..as usual, get ready, and me and my bro go to the car(by some ridiculous odds we ended up both taking this pointless class and he doesn't have a car or license). Well last night I noticed the signal from my python alarm remote was getting pretty weak(I never replaced it from when it first started getting weaker 6 months ago).
So long story short, it's dead this morning, so I can't disarm my car. No problem, I run inside grab my extra key with factory remote on it...no dice, this disables my factory security features...not the python...so I try it, hop in, and bam alarm goes off. It stops...I try starting the car, it goes off again. I try pressing that button 800 times...no dice. Well I grab the python owners manaul from the glovebox, and try and find a solution....BINGO, all I have to do is find the valet button or the ghost button...problem...either the previous owners never installed a valet button and never programmed a ghost button, or they conviently forgot to mention their locations to me. I search everywhere, hit every button, NOTHING...and the alarm is still going off. It periodically stops, but then starts anytime I move in the carseat, touch or close any compartment or open the door. So it went off a good 8 or 9 times, before I admitted defeat.

Well, I panic, and run inside to check teh bus schedule only to see that we'd have to run 2 blocks in 20 some seconds...not happening, so I check AIM...NOBODY IS actively on, all off or idle...103 people in my area and not one is FREAKING ONLINE. All my housemates are gone...and I don't have a phone(long story). So I'm screwed and do the only thing I can still think of...write the professor an email:


"Professor,
My brother and I are in an odd predicament. The battery in my remote for my car alarm died overnight. Now I can get into my car using the key manually, but the panic feature goes off, and my alarm just keeps going off. I cannot start the car without disabling the alarm, and my remote isn't putting out a strong enough signal to turn it off. I've been fighting with this for the past 20 mins. Class begins in 13 minutes, the last bus that would get us to campus has already left, and our housemates and my girlfriend are all not home. I'm desperately racing around trying to find some way of getting to campus...short of walking the 4 miles. I'm not sure if the midterm is today or Wednesday, but if it is today, please understand our situation. Thanks, Geoff"

So to get to the actual story...last ditch effort I try a few more times, walking around the car trying to find a sweet spot...and it works. We hop in the car and speed off like a bat outta hell. I rolled/ran 3 stops signs, 2 orange/red lights, did 110 in a 55, did 80 in the 30mph zones. Passed people on the shoulder, on entrace ramps for the highway, over the yellow lines...anything to get there faster(yes I got a few horns and choice hand signals)...the whole time awaiting blue and red lights in my rearview. (Kids don't try this at home). Up ahead we are 3 lights away, I see the straight lanes have red and traffic, so I drift through a yellow turning arrow into a parking lot. I speed through the parking lot and stop at the stopsign at the back, just short of a big UPS truck. I take the turn after it passes, and gave it so much gas as I dumped the clutch, that the backend broke loose...a fun feeling for my bro(as that was the first time he experienced that in the vr4...yes you can get an AWD car sideways!)

We hightail it to the back entrance of the school, doing 75 on 25mph school grounds and slid into the parking lot. Relieved I hadn't gotten a speeding or reckless driving ticket, I figured I could explain our extenuating circumstances to a Campus Judicial Board and argue my way out of a parking ticket, so I parked as close to the lecture hall as humanly possible...faculty parking. My bro runs in as I wait to for the turbo timer. We both made it in at the absolute last second as the midterms were being handed out...now how I did on it is another story entirely, but I can say that I got there on time...
I sent my Professor this afterwards and am awaiting his response:

"Professor, as you may have noticed we did make it to the midterm. I apologize for being late to class, however the sheer fact that we made it on time for the test was due to an extraordinary amount of luck, high speed driving, and other illegal traffic manuevers. Thanks for your understanding, it wont happen again."

I started as a double major(Psych and Philosophy). But after my 2nd year, I came to realize that my school's Pysch program was going in a completely opposite direction than where I wanted to go. I was interested in Social Pysch, yet due to my school's structuring and politics and such (very long story) the program is geared 100% into research/experiments and preperation for graduate school. I had no interest in any of those, simply in applied theory of Social Pysch...specifically in Sales. I already had a good sales job, felt that I was getting extremely good experience there and that my resume would be good enough by the time I graduated...so I dropped the Psych major, and am just doing Philosophy now...to finish with a degree.

It's a basic CS class, very very very very elementary. We just started HTML...like I said...easy 4 credits.

Philosophy major huh? my suite mate is a Phil major. good stuff, i enjoy it, runs right along side political science and law school and the art of rhetoric in arguing...gotta love those Greeks. I'm a Classics major, with double minor in Mathematics and Physics for a graduate degree in Engineering. I'm taking a Business Ethics-Philosophy course right now, and am currently procrastinating for a paper due Wednesday. You wouldn't wanna help a non-Phil major out with some case prompts, would you?

wouldnt switching the batteries from your stock alarm to the python remote work? how where you able to get back home after class? jeeze bro awsome story though, I almost miss being in school and doing crazy stuf like that.........almost.

No, I just need a new watch battery for it from walmart, I already found one for less than $2. As far as what I've been doing recently...I get out of the car while the turbo timer is still running, then when the car stops, I manually lock the doors with the key from the outside...that way my python doesn't arm itself.
