LS/VTEC or GSR

okay, so my uncle has a 99 Teg GS. He wants to LS/VTEC his car, so wouldn't it be called, GS/VTEC? or would it be called GS-R? he says that since he is going to GS/VTEC it, wouldn't he just get a GSR engine? how much hp does an LS/VTEC (Stock) engine give n e ways? Thanks

Re: LS/VTEC or GSR

The LS, GS, and RS integras all have the same engine; people just call it the LS motor. But no it wouldn't be a GS-R, you won't be able to rev it as high as the real GS-R motor. Even though the ECU would let you redline high, you'd still only be able to rev it as high as the LS block will allow. That's the only reason I'd personally never do an LS/VTEC, wouldn't want to risk reving it too high and doing damage unless I had the ECU rechipped to change the rev limiter.

the civic is right. i had my old b18 red line at 8k rpm's and about 6 months later i sun a bearing. time for a new engine. i seriously suggest that if you are going to do the LS/VTEC chip the ecu to bring the rev limiter back down, or time for some new internals which can come out to be expensive. but now i have a b20b

Re: LS/VTEC or GSR

OOOOOOOOOR, you can do it right the first time and build up the bottom end too. The stock ls/vtec will produce more power than a GS-R with bolt-ons. I don't recomend it, because it's so hard to find a mechanic who knows what he is doing. But if you do, go for it and never look back.

PS, the CTR head is the best to use. I would also go with the CTR pistons for the bottom end.
