'01 Tahoe LS Headlight Problem

I'm having a problem with the headlights in my '01 Tahoe. The brights and the fog lamps work, but the low beams do not. I have replaced both bulbs and still get nothing. It began as an intermittent problem. They wouldn't turn on immediately, but if I flashed the brights or turned on the fog lamps, the low beams would come on. Now I get no response from the low beams at all. I also tried replacing the relay switch, but that didn't work either. Any suggestions?

I have a 96 tahoe that did the same thing. It turned out to be a wire that conects to the turn signal switch had started to break from using the tilt steering. After i tried to fix the wire i ended up replacing the turn signal switch. No problems with it since.
I also had problems with the cruise control which also turned out to be a broken wire.

I replaced the turn signal switch (dimmer switch), but it didn't solve the problem. Not sure what to try next. Any ideas?

Re: '01 Tahoe LS Headlight Problem

I have had the same problem for about 2 years now. I have thrown over $1000 dollars at it with the dealership, but it's still there. I have replaced the mutifunction switch, and the override switch, but nothing works.

I had the same problem with my 02 suburban. It got so bad that I could duplicate the problem by slowly moving the tilt function on the steering wheel. I took apart the colum and found 2 wires burned in the multifunction switch. I just replaced the switch and now I have a computer problem. No lights, engine turns over but will not run. Still trying to fix the thing. The column is easy to take apart. The tilt knob pulls straight out and the plastic shell snaps apart top from bottom. Then you can check the wires that go into the multifunction switch.
Good luck..
