Re: 94 z28

My car came from the factory with Z's so I don't know if they had them or not in 96.

Re: 94 z28

"Many of the third generation f-bodies to come from GM were equipped with a vehicle speed limiter which prevented attaining the true top speed that the vehicles were capable of. Their reasoning for a speed limiter included such factors as tires that were not rated for higher speeds, keeping insurance rates down, and just for flat out safety. However, most of the Camaros and Firebirds that were speed limited were the low output versions using the 305 TBI engine. For Z28 and other TPI f-body owners, this is good news because they do not have the "governer" to contend with. However, other owners such as myself are often irritated by the inability to attain the top speed that our vehicles could otherwise perform"

Re: 94 z28

I know for a fact though that they did make LT1 F-body without Z rated tire's come with speed limiter so its not just third gen's. Just check out fbody.com or f-bodyhideout and they have video's of the car cutting out. But because they are still pulling strong its hard to tell the exact speed. If you wanna know for sure call Bryan at www.pcmforless.com he's a real cool guy and does all type of LT1 programming and he will let you know the exact speed it cuts you off.

Re: 94 z28

"All cars that came with stock touring tires (Good Year Eagle GA 235/55R16) were speed limited to 108 MPH. In addition, they got a 115 MPH speedometer. Cars opting for the QLC package (Good Year Eagle 245/50ZR16 GS-C tires) or the QFZ package (Good Year Eagle 245/50ZR16 RS-A tires, available in 1995 and after), automatically got the 155 MPH speedometer and did NOT have a speed limiter. This is because GS-Cs and RS-As are Z-rated for speeds over 165 MPH. Any car leaving the factory with a Z-rated tires, should also have the 155 MPH speedometer and no speed limiter. "

Re: 94 z28

Z rated is speeds 149+, but anyways thats one of the very few things good about livin in neb. All the roads are strait and Long....towns being at least 20 miles apart. And if you do see a cop chances are your friends with him anyway. So if you want to test out your top speed you can just about anywhere anytime.

Re: 94 z28

I did a road trip across country from NY to Cali when I moved out west and on route 10 through Texas and Arizona its straight for 200 miles + and I was doing 135 MPH+ for a solid 45 minutes in my Z3 it was crazy but fun.

Re: 94 z28

108? that sounds low... i've been to 110. Then again i remebmer something about that cutoff is for WOT and if you're at 1/2 throttle or less (maybe 3/4?) it doesnt cut... i dunno tho. Where'd you get 108 mph?
