'71 - '73 boattails

One of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen in my life was a black boattail Riviera that was parked across the street from the high school I attended about twenty years ago. I wondered at the time if it was a Corvette Sting Ray and I wondered what the "R" hood ornament meant.

I didn't see a thread here about these beauties so I decided to start one. Anyone here has or had one? What's it like to live with? Any disadvantages to the rear glass being like that? How many times do people confuse your car with a Corvette Sting Ray Coupe or a '65-'66 Barracuda (I realize that the others are much smaller cars, but...)?

Don't have a Boat Tail..However I too really like the looks..My Wife and I recently purchased a sound, but in ned of work 1969 Riv..I didn't really know about the boat tails till I got to researching our car and happened upon some pics and info while surfing the net..Now that I have seen them I sort of wish I had gotten one....Who knows I might get lucky and find one needing some work that I can pick up on the cheap.
