Tail pipe, rear fender and front mudguards

Pic's of some mods on my X.

At some time in the past, I 'mosi'd' my tail pipe up into my rear quarter panel leaving a large dent. Using a Dremel cut-off wheel, I cut-away the dent leaving room for future upward excusions of the tailpipe. The dent/opening is pretty much invisible from a standing position.

I then cut the end of the tailpipe off at a taper to remove the mashed end.

And finally my revised front mudflaps. I cut down the stock mudflap leaving about 2 inches to attach a standard truck mudflap which I also cut down to fit. These mudflaps have been GREAT.

I like the Mosi's tailpipe conversion.......

Funny, Schlud and I were talking this weekend about making a "mini" mudflap up front just to keep crap from landing on top of the EOE sliderz. Guess I see my solution right in front of me!!!

Well I was more interested in stopping gravel hitting the lower doors, but cleaner sliderz is good too.

We were discussing the 2002 flare, but I like your flap mod. With the sliderz below the hard plastic point you'll have bigger problems before that gets popped off by a rock. My only concern would be making sure the flap is soft enough rubber that it won't force the flap off if you back the lower part into your tread.

The Craftsman cure for a Mosi'd tailpipe

Don't know how new this tool is, but it will cure the Mosi'd tail pipe (unless you "super" Mosi'd it).

Wouldn't work on my pipe after what we did in Moab this weekend.
I only had a half inch opening left, had to use a gerber to pry it back open so the Cat wouldn't get cooked.

Since the damage is so bad I'm just going to cut the pipe back about 4 inches, does anybody know if there is a risk of getting gas fumes in the passenger compartment if the tail pipe is cut back too far?

The ultimate goal is to bend myself a new pipe from the cat back and put in a dynomax muffler. But that's going to have to be a summer project, and I need a solution now.
