Question 96 Buick Skylark

My buick will start sometimes but most of the time the car will turnover, idle for about 2 seconds, then die. I've taken it to many dealers, they've put on a new starter, new carb, new fuel pump but nothing has worked. When the car does start, it runs just fine. There is no telling when it will or won't start. Any clue as to what it could be?

If they put a new carbuerator on, you need to find a new dealer, because theres no way that engines not fuel injected

Re: 96 Buick Skylark

I have a car with the same problem. It's been to practically every shop in Baltimore that services Buicks ( it used to be my grandparents) and the most recent shop made it run for the longest it has ever run - a whopping 5 months- by replacing the dash board. they said it was the anti theft device shorting itself out. of course it is once again not working and has spent a very large portion of the last four weeks in the shop and it is currently stuck at school.

Re: 96 Buick Skylark

I just bought a 96 skylark and it has the same problem. It will start but just stalls automatically, unless the dash lights come on when you turn the key, it will not start. I bought from a mechanic, who cannot figure out the problem. Mechanic bought car from auction. If anyone knows the solution, please let me know!!

My 96 Skylark is now having this same problem. The Mechanic replaced the MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor)$240 parts&labor and then it started working again.. Now 2 1/2 months down the road it started doing the same thing again
