A few Q's

91CRX DX
Smokes like Mt St Helen

What is the bhp of a JDM d15b?

How much does one weigh(5spd and manifolds attached)?

is it reasonable to think that 2 guys can lift it out of the car w/o a crane?

How long should it take someone(me) who has never done a engine swap to do this?

I should add that the JDM D15B I am putting in is not VTEC

So I actually want to know if there is a diference between
USDM and JDM D15B(2?)'s

thanks

Re: A few Q's

yes the JDM is vtec and the usdm ones are worthless. get yourself either the vtec model, or step it upto at least the 1.6l. in any case, i believe the HP is about 125-130 or so, should weigh in around250-300lbs w/o tranny. yes 2 people can lift it, but to lift it out of the car would be awkard and you'd prolly get a hernia if you did.

thankyou for replying

I purchased a JDM D15B2 from an importer that has D15B2 and D15B-VTEC
So it is not a VTEC(those were $60 over what I had to spend and I need this car to drive to work so I could not wait and save)
It is a JDM

I read somewhere that in general JDM's have .9 higher comp ratio than USDM's

so I hope to suprise a buddy with a 91si that is 100% USDM stock

just suprise....not smoke

Re: A few Q's

well be careful JDM engines dont use numbers after there letter designation. so a D15B2 is a usdm motor, a 92hp beast to be exact, about 70 to the wheels. whereas a D15B is the JDM model. this is true across all families of motor, D, B, H, F, C, A etc etc etc.

Re: A few Q's

it is advertised as a JDM D15B...no numbers on the end
I know it isn't a VTEC cuz he sells those as D15B-VTEC
I meant base horsepower by saying bhp(guess I read too much motor trend..lol)

to re phrase the question
USDM D15B2 = 92hp
JDM D15B(not VTEC) = ??

I am getting this CRX running as a daily driver so I can get to work...then I can save up for mods ;^)

Re: A few Q's

i dunno about 2 guys lifting it out. it has to come up quite far before it clears the car. you'd probably be better off dropping it out the bottom and having 4 dudes lift the car

do you have a local equipment place you can rent from? these days you can buy a brand new hoist for $150 or less

in motor trend bhp stands for brake horse power, not base.
