Exclamation 1st Gen Start Problem!

Ok... pheww... Had problems starting, had tickets, had to take care of tickets, moved, moved again, got back, took care of tickets, trying to take care of 85 RX-7. All in the span of one year.

So, the car hasnt ran in a year, it stopped running and didnt have time to fix it... when i decided to get back to it... turned the key, nothing, absolutly nothing, decided i probably needed a new batt. replaced batt. turned key, nothing... replaced starter, turned key, nothing... noticed there was NO clutch fluid, filled and bled, clutch works!! YEA!!, tried starting it, nothing.. Cleaned all leads and ends, check fuses, checked clutch start intruppter, cranking voltage, all to no avail... im now at the point where when u turn the key, the starter clicks and the batt dropps to 8 volts and then you have nothing... until the batt starts fizziling because you forgot to let go of the key as you cussed the car. so... in general, it acts as if it has a dead batt... but it has a new one. ooh, and when we tried starting it without the clutched compressed, it TRIED to turn over, spun the fan about half a turn, made some WEIRD noises, and then stopped... and went back to its normal state.

So, any suggestions?

Re: 1st Gen Start Problem!

Will the engine turn over at all, like if you try turning it with a braker bar and socket onthe main pulley? If it will turn then have you checked the starter seloniod to see if it is allowing voltage to the starter?

Re: 1st Gen Start Problem!

If that doesn't work and the engine will turn you might want to check the grounds maybe even go as far as to remove the starter and seeing if it will turn at all if it does then you may need to check the starter wires again just to be sure you are getting voltage to the starter.

Re: 1st Gen Start Problem!

make sure you can turn the engine by hand, if it makes some weird noise, remove the sparkplugs and pour some ATF or mineral engine oil in the rotor chambers..

carbon lock is a normal thing.. it wont destroy the engine to do it once.

If you can ever find the time...press the gas 4 or 5 times to the floor without tryint to start the car. Immediately after locate the fuel pump and youll notice a wire coming to the pump and one leaving. If possible, carefully pull the leaving wire apart from the pump. If no gas pours out, try replacing the fuel pump.
