My dashboard lights

I know it's been discussed already here, but in my case, the only ones giving me trouble are the dashboard lights including the radio and the a/c ones. I checked already the fuses, everything is o.k. Please give some imput, it's been three years in total obscurity

By the way, it's a 96 Lumina.

Re: My dashboard lights

I'm gonna say it's a problem with the dash dimmer switch.

Re: My dashboard lights

I would check the headlight/interior light dimmer switch first, as well as the interior light fuse.

Re: My dashboard lights

Not to be left out, check the bulbs of the questionable units. Hook them up to fused battery power and see what you get.

Re: My dashboard lights

Look for a broken ground wire (especially if an aftermarket stereo or something was installed. If you can get a wiring diagram, you could chase it, or supply a known ground shunted to it for testing.

I took off the headlights/dimmer switch off, then put a wire from power to the dashboard lights cable and it works. So maybe is the switch?

Dimmer Switch

The headlight switch assembly was one of the first maintanance items I had to perform on my '97 Lumina. It was still under warranty. I appears to be a common problem with these cars.
