Unhappy Subaru Impreza Wrx or Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo

Hey
The Wrx and the 300zx are my 2 most favourite cars, i love them both. But i dont know which one to buy. Ive saved up a lot of cash and i was originally going to get 300zx tt because it was more in my price range, however i now have enough money to buy either one..not a 2004 WRX though anythin up to that i can get. I just would like to know what all you guys think and the benifits of getting a WRX over 300zx. I live in Sydney and WRX's are very popular thats why i first wanted a 300zx cauz there not a common as the subarus n skylines and i would be different, but i juz cant get ova WRX's and i kno i could make mine stand out from the rest
so what do you guys think is better for value, preformance, looks etc
Personally i love the look of both, i think the WRX would be more for value since i wouldnt buy nethin older than a 1998 and the 300zx last model was in 1996 also 300zx has a lot of mechanical issues for example the time belt has to be changed every 2 - 3 months in order to keep her running good. Preformance im not sure on its a 4 cylinder Petrol Turbo 2.0L (with the WRX) VS 6 cylinder Petrol Twin Turbo 3.0L.....300zx looks faster but from what ive seen the WRX can match it and kicks it in acceleration.

Anyway all your input and opinions would be appreciated...thanx heaps

Get the WRX performance wise that car has a lot of potential as well as better gas mileage... the only problem is its all a preference on what you like for looks... I think the 3Z is sexy but thats me...

I dunno how much money you have, but I've heard from a lot of people (even Z owners) that the 300ZX is a pretty high maintenance car that is difficult to work on. Also, since it's so old, a lot of the ones you find will be abused. I'd go with a nice 98-00 WRX coupe.

Wish I could say that about Skylines.

Um, no it dosent. LOL. The timing belt is fine for a hell of a lot longer than 2-3 months. LOL. Maby 2-3 years if you drive like mad.

you must be from Australia or new zealand Romero coz those are the only 2 countries i know where skylines and wrx's are all over the place.

anyway I'd go with the wrx no doubt coz the 300zx is hell to maintain adn hell to work on as a mechanic. Just open the bonnet of a 300zx and look at how many wires that thing has, seriously, wires everywhere. Besides, the wrx has AWD and well.......its a wrx Its got AWD, heaps of aftermarket support, a name that strikes fear and is well known amongst car lovers and better looks than the 300zx stock for stock. Oh plus a lot more room to put your friends in the back.
I love the 300zx's but there is no comparison for me between the wrx and the 300, the wrx wins in every way.

with all opinions being respected i would have to go with a z32TT. i know this is a bias opinion but i d like to voice my word. i think that the 300zx looks much better than the WRX and both cars have tremendous aftermarket and potential. the z32TT can reach 400-425hp with a basic cone-filter, cat-back exhaust and ECU upgrade. thats about 350 rwhp. also, the only reason the z32 is hard to work on is because of the cramped engine bay. otherwise it is layed out in a pretty basic design.
both cars are great cars but i dont think that the WRX sedan will beat the 300zx TT stock for stock. correct me if im wrong but doesnt the WRX only run a mid 14 - high 14 in the 1/4 mile. stock TT's place anywhere from high 13's - very low 14's. also, potential wise, i have seen a few 300zx TT running 11's with stock internals and turbos. and yes the TT will have more maitenance issues than a fairly brand new WRX but what can you expect out of a 10 year old 300hp TT engine.

Re: Subaru Impreza Wrx or Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo

Actually WRX's hit mid to low 14's in stock form so basically it gives the 3z a run for its money... Though yes I do agree that it isnt a bad car for reliability... My friend has a 91 3z and that thing has super high milage and its still kicking with good maintainance... Therefore what kind of price you looking at? of course there will be a lot more maintainance with an older car but it will be worth it in the end if thats the route you want to go...

this guys is not from the states. he said he was looking at a 98 WRX. those were 280hp cars in a 2800lb AWD chassis running mid to low 13's. more then quick enough to take out a Z stock.
