New battery dead in a week

So i bought a brand new battery last thursday, and today (saturday) I went out to my car to work on it, and i wanted to listen to the radio so i tried to turn the car on and it woun't let me, it doesn't even have enough juice to beep at me when i hit the alarm buttoin, or any of the lights go on.

Its beyond dead.... I don't understand.... Can the subs and amp be sucking away battery juice with the car not on?

And my other battery didn't die in a week from it. It still had juice left when I put the new one in... just not enough to start the car...

wtf?!

Re: New battery dead in a week

sounds like your alternator is not charging the battery, might be time for a new one.

...or you have a parasitic drain (something thats staying on when you turn the car off thats draining the battery.)

check your wirings to your sub or any other place that you wired up. I hated when i had the exact problem as you. turned out my alternator wasn't charging it right.

Re: New battery dead in a week

Well my alternator is fine, i tested it with the other battery.

The car has ran only once with this new battery, to drive the car 15 feet into my garage, and since then has been jacked up so I can work on it.

The second time was when I was jacking it up so i could listen to music, since then, the car has not been on, but the subs and the amp are in there, and thats the only thing I can think of that woul dbe draining it.

Re: New battery dead in a week

if it's not the sound system, it might be a bad battery

i know a friend of mine bought a battery and it only worked for a few days - he brought it back to the place and got another battery and the car ran perfect
