ATTN Snowboarders!

Ok heres the deal. My girlfriend works at an outdoors adverture/skiing/snowboarding shop. The employees are all going on a ski/snowboard trip, and they all get to bring someone, so shes bringing me. I guess the guys at the shop are pretty good. Heres my question: Anyone got tips so i dont do faceplants all day and look like stroke? I'm worried im going to be on the bunny all day

If you haven't snowboarded before, you WILL end up falling over at some point. Best thing you can do is take a class, they help a lot. Then just practice turning. and keep praticing practicing practicing. I've been boarding for about 4 years now and absolutely love it. Don't let the initial difficulty put you off. once you get the basics it's sweet.

Yea, what dark said, also remember that there is a fine line between a turn and getting to far up on the edge and falling on your ass... Find it, and dont' go there agian Basicaly turning is the hardest part, once you've got that your home free.

Get the best gear , dress up like JP Walker or Jason brown , and try the biggest cliff drop around in the first day , brake your arm , and act like a hero through the rest of the trip , walking around like you tought all the pros how to ride and impress the ladies with all your switch alley-oop McTwist 900 stories , or those 50 ft switch nosepresses on steep rails never seen on movies and other switch corked 1080 one-footed butt-naked , one-shoed , whatever japan airs... -that's what i do all the time

Seriously , just be yourself , acting like you are all that when you really aren't would only make you look stupid , you should take some lessons , it's a freeriding trip or what? If that's real backcountry and you don't have much expierience than don't go there...

I was in a similar situation. I opted to take lessons before hand so I don't hold everyone back.

It only takes about 1-2 days of lessons and intense snowboarding for you to get off the bunny slopes. It's not that hard. I just started this year, and by my third trip to the mountain, I was going down the black diamonds.

I ama die hard skier. That being said I tried snowboarding for two hours yesterday and I hurt. I was using a friends board and he is opposite foot of me so that was tricky but I got the hang of turning on heel edge after two runs. but all my muscles hurt now. then I drove for three hours so that didn't improve the situation. My big suggestion is knee pads. that or a VERY loving girlfriend.
