I think you might have meant Mass Air Flow sensor. What year Camry? I put a K&N air filter in my 03 4-cyl. Camry with absolutely no problems whatsoever. It's the direct replacement for the OEM filter; not the open filter cone type. Maybe something was knocked loose during the installation of yours and you might want to retrace each step to try to solve the problem.

Re: Aftermarket air filter problem....
I know someone who has ruined their mass air flow sensor by using too much cleaning solution in their K&N filter. Did you do anything to the filter before installing it?

Re: Aftermarket air filter problem....
I clean the oil-wetted filters by using the cleaning solution first, then rinsing, then using a dilute solution of dish-washing liquid in water to soak the filter to remove both dirt and the residual cleaning solution (alot of additional dirt comes off the filter when I do this). Then I rinse the filter with water and let it dry for a day before I re-oil it with a minimum of oil.

Re: Aftermarket air filter problem....
I use an Amsoil filter system in my '92 Camry with no problems at all... I use the wetting oil sparingly where it is just tacky to the touch....

Re: Aftermarket air filter problem....
Both AMSOIL and TRD are great filters. IMO, the cotton TRD filter is a better element.
