9:1 forged pistons with turbo at 15psi

Rebuilding the engine, searching for pistons and rods. I noticed most low compression pistons are 8:1 but i was thinking about getting forged 9:1 pistons with forged and shotpeened. I am going to make a bullet proof KA24DE-T engine , because i have blown a rod out before and thats not going to happena again haha

so 9:1 pistons at 15psi is that a good thing?

i wanna also built a KA24DE-T, but i still dont know enough about engines, i know how they work, all the parts, build up, functionality, just dont know how to connect compression and psi and all those facts toegether in my head to build a more power efficent engine, currently trying to read up...
ps.. is that you in the picture ?

Should be fine at 15 psi provided you aren't foolish about it. 300ZX TT runs 8.5:1 and I believe the RB26 has either 9.5 or 9:1 pistons. Have you considered running water/alcohol injection in addition to the highest octance gas possible, perhaps with some toulene added in?

no i just plan on running with 15 psi on unleaded only, not gonna go into the toulene alcohol or octane, 15 psi is fine with the 8:1 compression up to about 20 psi then i would have to use octane , now if i do the 9:1 compression pistons with 15psi i might be having enough compression to where the air and fule mixture will blow without a spark, so at 9:1 i should probably be running 10-12psi.

IM just thinking 9:1 because it will give me more power from the start and reduce the lag of the turbo somewhat, but then running with less PSI will provide my car just as much HP as it would with higher psi and lower compression.

Im just trying to find a way to eliminate lag... unless there are other solutions without making a TT engine with a small and bigger turbo.

Re: 9:1 forged pistons with turbo at 15psi

Why did you start a new thread on the same topic?

Get a smaller turbo, rebuild and use ball bearing centers, change your turbo housings, use nitrous, have a stepped boost controller, have stepped fuel mappings....

there are many ways to get the turbo to spool faster. What turbo are you using right now that has such bad lag that you need to worrie about it?

im not using a turbo right now, and there is no way in a million years would i ever use NOS. I just wanted to see what people thought about the compression different pistons and if it will actually reduce lag. Ill probably go with the 8.5:1 pistons

by the way nice signature picture is that your car? and if so where did you get that tight hood what kind is it? and is that the JDM silvia S14 k's spolier? looks a little thicker than the Ks. God a picture of that car from the side and rear? tight car.

Re: 9:1 forged pistons with turbo at 15psi

Its an MSports CF hood painted to match the car. The wing is a GP Sports wing, as well as the kit. The kit is G-Sonic Zero One. Suites the car well. The wing is a JDM peice, replica of a S14 K. Good eyes.

So you're not ganna use octane? Dude, how are you ganna turn on the engine? Little heads up here, fuel has octane in it! You have high or low levels, but it still has some.

And for the red S14, you talk about it like it's your car, but it's right hand drive, and in the other thread you said you paid in dollars for it.....weird.....where do you live?

Re: 9:1 forged pistons with turbo at 15psi

U can get away with 87 octane in the KA, but once you go turbo use 91+. Dont skimp or else you will pay later.

I never said the car was mine. LOL. I mealy stated whats done to it. Wish mine looked that nice. My hole car is compleatly stock other than under the hood. Need go more than show, the pic is just wehat i aspire for my car to look like. Im trying to get a price on the kit from www.garagefive.net. sorry if i gave the wrong impression.
