electrical problem

i had a sound system instaled in my car and now my tail lights and dash dont turn on, and they did turn on before the system. is this a comon problem and what can i do? (87 Mazda RX7)

OH i forgot first time it happend i checked the fuses and one was blown, this time all of the fuses seem to be good and the system works exept the tail ligths and Dash. and if it is a a fuse which one should it be

still sounds like a fuse, have you checked the ones under the hood too?

first we have to know what the problem is, like I said above, have you checked the fuses under the hood?

this is the order they are on
EGI cOMP - 30A -Good
EGI INJ. - 40A- good
HEAD - 30A- Good
MAIN - 80A- Good
NONE
BTN -60A- Good
RETRACTOR - 30A Good
thats all there are and they are all Good

sounds like a fuse to me. If replacing it the 1st time made the lights work, then chances are, its a fuse again. You cant tell if its good by simply looking at it, pull it out, and test it with an ohmmeter. set it to the lowest possable setting, and it should get very very close to 000, if it says overload, then that means, there is a lot of resistance, and the fuse is blown.

look in the manual for fuse locations, find the one for the dash and tail lights. If you dont have a manual, check the fuse you replcaed the first time. Chances are it blew again. I dont know what else to tell ya other than the wiring might be bad, or there may be a short somewhere.

in the RX7 forums they told me to check the "ilumi" fuse and ground the radio from the chasi ill try this and reply.
