93 Blazer Police Vehicle Help

Hi,

Great forum here,

I am interested in a 1993 Chevy Blazer. The owner mentioned that it was a police vehicle and has a high performance engine.

I have searched this forum and the net and I am drawing a blank on what a police package would include for this type of vehicle. I did do the carfax search and it came up with the 5.7L V8 OHV 16V, which I thought is standard for these.

Any help on what to look for and where to find it on the web and the vehicle is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

Thanks for the reply.

The Carfax report unfortunatlely doesn't mention anything in regards to the history while as a Police service vehicle.

The history is a bit short...with an entry for an auction and this owner's registration.

Just looking for any info I can get. I can get info on the police squad cars....but I have searched for hours for Blazers....and with exception of the newer Tahoe models, am drawing blanks in regards to Police vehicles.

Re: 93 Blazer Police Vehicle Help

sometimes when a vehicle comes out of service a s apolice vehicle, the motor is pulled and is issued a salvage/rebuilt title with a different motor in it. then it can be auctioned with a special clause clearing its history.. it can be done with theft recovery vehicles also. but it can only be done through the police. so if he got it at an auction and it was previosly a police vehicle, it probably has a different motor in it anyway. also befor buying any service, especially police, you want to think about the idle time on it. it may have only 70k on it but it ran for six years straight, and that you will never be told.

Police vehicles are usually the same other than a higher amp alternator and a heavy transmission cooler.
