Cool idea please don't kill me

So I was looking at the AE86 and I have started to wonder...

Is it true that there is a Celica engine that would fit in it to give it more power, and if so does anyone know what engine it was? Futher more the Corolla was rwd not fwd so how did this get fixed?

My question is that I am really wondering this because I know the DSM 4g63 can be turned 90 degrees and converted to do rwd using a MKIII supra 5sp trans. So is this how it would have been done with that model engine or what?

I have been looking at the old Ford Escort Hatchbacks and seeing that the things are sooooo cheap to get, and for someone who is looking into not only engine building and tuning, but drifting, I was thinking if I could use this kind of set up it would be a really neat project.

I don't mean to offend anyone.... I love the MKIII more then anyother car on the road, but im still young and they aren't cheap and or practical at this point in my life.... nor are the parts as easy to come by. So I have been trying to become creative. Any help would be nice.
