Governer?

My friend who owns a ricer seems to think my 94 camaro Z28 has a governer on it, i haven't exceeded more than 100 mph yet, but there's no way it has a damn governer. Just wondering if anyone knows? Oh and its a 6 speed if that matters.

There is a speed govener that goverens the car to the speed rating of the tires that came with the car. Just need to get a chip

Re: Governer?

Actually the first part is true about the tires but the 94 + don't have a removable prom they have a erasable eprom and You need to have it programmed out but its easily done with a programmer or tuning with a cable through www.pcmforless.com or www.madz28.com

Re: Governer?

That is a module not a chip because its a exterior devise and it does not allow you to put your own specific info , So like I said you would need to have it programmed out in either a tune or programmer.

Re: Governer?

ok thanx for the info FormulaLT1. I also was gonna ask what kind of bolt ons would be the best for my car. I already have: flowmaster exhaust, cold air intake and the Venom 400 control module. I am also about to gutt my cat and get 17s all around with possibly 315s on the back and if not 275/45 all around. I have 127000 miles on it now so i expect i'll have to rebuild in not too long so i'll wait for the internal goodies until then, but for now lookin for bolt ons.

Re: Governer?

You know I would love to answer your question here but I think it would be a better Idea. To make a new thread about that subject plus you will probably get more subject related advise than people expecting to answer a question about a governor also you might just want to do a search on the forum as there have been about a thousand bolt on LT1 threads

Re: Governer?

in 93 and up the only cars that came with limiters were the sixers, cause they didnt come with z-rated tires...
