Don't Buy a FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a 1997 Ford Taurus up until today. I can honestly say I will never own another Ford for as long as I live. I was about 100 miles from home and my alternator died and about 10 minutes later my Transmission died. I experienced the Taurus syndrome, piss poor transmissions!!!! I ripped the plates off and left the junk there. I later today bought a 1990 Cadillac Elderado in mint condition!!!! Moral of the story: BUY GM!!!!!!!!

Re: Don't Buy a FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!

ummm 91 taurus never had a trouble, 2001 zx2 never had a trouble, 2000 zx2 never had a trouble, 95 f150 no troubles 95 sable no troubles.

way to base a whole company on 1 car.

look at the number of TSB's on the zx2 vs the z24 in 2000

zx2: 30 TSB's and 1recall : Seat belt wont retract when unhooked
z24: 146 TSB's and 1 recall : Ignition defect

Well I have a 92 SHO Taurus with 180K miles on it, and nearly 300 DWHP. It is my second daily driver next to my 89 F-150 with 225K on the original 300 I-6. Both with excellent compression ratio's, dosent burn, drip, choke, hesitate, slow start, nothing. Total I think i've paid about 3k on em, clutches, brakes, and oil changes, miscellanious sensor here or there (damn CPS), for the most part, and moral of the story, just take care of your vehicles like a woman, if your nice you'll see it in the end.... if you neglect or ignore her.... lol poof she's gone and hits u in the pocket book.. secondly i recommed carfax..

Pic's of both here vvvvvvvvvv

Re: Don't Buy a FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, buying a '90 Cad sounds like a smart move. The 15 year old likely won't need upkeep and maintenance. Bet it gets good gas mileage as well. Where you park that Taurus? I'd like to go get it.

I agree with you. If you look at my post, you'll see that I also have driven plenty of Taurus's without trouble. I currently own my 2002, and will probably look at the replacement, the new Ford 500. I also know what '90 Cadillacs are like, and at $2.50 a gallon for gas, they are probably in plentiful supply for cheap!!

Ford... You either Love yours or hate it. Doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

I've owned my 03 Taurus for about two months.... Is now in the shop for the 3rd time. Radio & Cat. comverter #1.... Clunking sound in engine compartment (Loose engine mount) #2... Now the dash just goes dead for a few minutes... other times the engine will go into high idle (after being warm for 10-20 min).... Plus the RPM's like to waver between 1200 & 500... then it'll either stick at 1200 or die... #3

25582 miles of which I'm responsible for around 500. I've owned GM cars for all my life... have a 96 Grand am GT 117000 mi... same engine displacement... 5 more HP... 300lbs heavier... but will hand the Taurus its A$$ in a race. Heck... the 03 focus I have for a loaner is just as fast if not faster. and don't even get me started on the 14-16mpg (city) it gets (I do drive normal, because I'm scared of braking it)

But, there are just as many people who have had no probs with their Fords..... Although I'm finding it harder to believe after every day of owning mine.

Good luck with all your Fords... I'm not comming back after this lemmon.

Re: Don't Buy a FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!

This does sound like a car from hell. Hopefully the warranty is still in effect. If it is, have the service manager drive it for a few days as if it is his own. When he returns from lunch on the back of a tow truck, you will get results FAST!!! Good luck.

That's the only good thing about the car... the warranty...lol. Thats what's going on now.. Dealer I bought it from is taking it 100mi north to their other lot where the service guy "IS GOING TO" find out whats wrong.

That extended warranty I bought is looking better every day, but it'd still be nice to drive the new car I'm paying for...lol.

This is NOT an alternative fuel discussion board, NOR a Ford-bashing forum. If you feel like continuing to do either, please feel free to take a flying leap off a very tall cliff, because nowhere is there to be found in the FAQ a declaration that this is the jer_bond agenda discussion forum!

Is it too hard for you to realize that going to a FORD forum and posting the same BS in different threads about how Ford stinks, they have no environmental policy, etc, is considered TROLLING??????????

Obviously not, hence my original post for you to STFU.

I would have even considered it acceptable if you had started a new thread asking people what they though of Ford's direction with the impending oil prices and presumed future shortages, then engaged in civil discussion, but no, you came here spouting your personal ideas and linking to anti-Ford websites, and so, you are free to take your leave immediately sir, if you would be so kind to do, without any further adieu.

I certainly hope this was as thoughtful and open-minded as you expect it to be.

I'm mad as hell and I approve this message!

Ya know, the people who always bash automakers are the same ones who say asinine things in my shop like "Oh, you have to SERVICE the transmission?" or "What's an oil filter and why should I change the damn thing?" I'm not personally bias to any automaker, but I am familiar with Ford and I know there's some bad apples out there, but on the other hand, my dad's avalanche with under 50,000 miles has had a wheelbearing (350 dollars my cost), a power steering pump (600 bucks at the dealer) and a rear differential (3500 bucks at the dealership!!!!) go out. I don't know how the hell GM puts 3500 bucks in a rear end, as most fords can be rebuilt for less than 800!. Oh, and judging the automaker on a vehicle made 15 years ago is idiotic in the extreme! Usually, after 15 years a vehicle is in the crusher! And what vehicle does Ford make out of plastic? It ain't like they're the parent company of Saturn!
