I am back once again with another ?

Okay i replaced my alternator with an 87 teg one. It didnt just hook right up so we had to cut the wires and crimp them together and make sure it started and worked. Well its been like two weeks since i did that and i am running into problems. First of all it started to take a while to start my car like it takes like 30 seconds to start which isnt normal. And then yesterday it started starting up strangely like it felt like it was barely gettin power. So then i just drove it around, well my deck started to cut off and come back on and i thought it was weird. So i turned the amp down on my subs and thought that would work(no such luck)so when i got home i tried to start the car and it wouldn't turn over all the lights came on but there wasnt a clicking sound. So i came back 30 mins, later and tried to start it and it started. So i cant figure out what the hell is wrong with it. by the way it didnt start after i tried to turn it back on so any help would be great

your alternator isn't working sounds like. get a volt-o-meter and hook it up to the battery, when before you start it up it should read a little over 12v, after you start it and the alternator is running it should read 13 or 14v. if not then it's not hooked up right

stop pulling up old threads, proper etiquette (Usenet style) is to lurk for a period and get a feel for the forum before posting everywhere. old threads in this forum are forgotten because, most often, they are posted by one time visitors and there is no sense in posting to someone who will never see it. feel more then welcome to post in current threads but try not to be so vague, give proper explanation and detail to the advice you give. i'm not trying to come down on you or anything, just trying to make things run smoothly

btw, this was not an old thread, it was just a convenient place near the top to post
