need ls swap guide

anyone know where theres a good guide/manual with good instructions. im picking up a 93 civic lx tuesday and want to go with an ls swap....and eventually homemade turbo setup. a good manual i could order would be great. also i heard you can run the stock ls mounts in the civic so i don't have to buy a mount kit...truth?

Re: need ls swap guide

I know the guy who did my swap didnt have anymounts he had to fabricate one and the other 2 worked but he said something about the back mount you can use 94-up integra rear motor mount and it will work...As for a manual try hanyes or chiltons or something autozone, pepboys or somewhere has them for like 15 bucks..

Re: need ls swap guide

I also recomend hanyes. It has gotten me through many automotive problems in the past. As for your choice in engines, I would like to commend you. Many people go for the vtec integra swap, but for a turbo set up, the ls is a great platform, and easy on the pockets. Nice to see someone who buys what they need and not what is popular.

chiltons = crap; haynes = better, but not best; HELMS = The very first thing you should buy after purchasing a car. www.helminc.com

thanks for the replies guys basically i was looking for a good manual like the ones you guys recommended but i wanted to make sure it was a straight forward swap. i sold my integra like a year and a half ago so i've been out of the import stuff for a while now. got an awesome deal on a 93 4 door civic though. If everything goes right i'll have the money for the swap pretty soon but i don't want to send it to a shop. im pretty sure the 94 and up mounts mount straight into the eg chassis and i believe it mostly just plugs up as far as wireing as long as you have the ls ecu not sure about axles though. i'll have to try the google search too. this will be my first time pulling and engine too so any tips would be nice.

Re: need ls swap guide

You'll need to use the Integra rear bracket (not jsut the mount). Also you'll need the shiftlinkage, and axles (yup you need them). But you're right about the ECU, it'll just plug right in with no wiring to be done. Nice to hear about someone talking about doing an engine swap in a 4dr too; don't hear about many of them. I'd advise on using a "cherry picker" (engine hoist), it will make you life a lot easier. Theoretically it could take you just 1 day to do the swap; but plan on at least 2, maybe 3. Masta's right it'd go a lot quicker and smoother if you had someone help you that has done it before. Good Luck.
