Unhappy Sonoma 98 3rd door handle broken

Have 3rd door on driver's side which is great but it recently broke. It started getting tough to open and I thought it might need some sort of lube somewhere but then it just snapped. Now the handle is limp and the door remains closed.

Any help on how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Sonoma 98 3rd door handle broken

The 3rd door handle also broke on my 2002 Sonoma after only 2 years. There is no way to fix it so it has to be replaced. You will probably find that most dealers stock this part. It costs around $27. There are two torx bolts that hold it in place. It's not too difficult to replace. My door is also beginning to get difficult to open. There is a plastic slider on the bottom of the 3rd door which slides against a plastic guide on the top sill of rocker panel. The slider on the door seems to move like a switch, but I think what's happening is that it is just riding on top of the sill guide. I'm not sure what the problem is, so I just make sure I grab the inside of the door to help open it. I don't want to break another 3rd door handle.

I have found out if you push inward on the door and then pull the handle its not so hard and puts less strain on the small plastic piece that breaks every time. i have to replace mine as well

Is there any adjustment for the latching mechanism at the top of the panel? The side panel on my truck rattles when as I drive over rough roads. With the driver door open you can move the upper portion of the panel, while the bottom stays solid.

I had the same problem with my S10 which is similar. I had to replace th handle 3 times before I found a better solution. I got a Billet Aluminum door handle and have had no problems since.

All six of your posts have been advertisements for that door handle site. Whether you're aware of it or not, 6 posts advertising the same site is spam and grounds for an immediate and permanent ban.

Digging up old threads is also against the rules. This one is over a year old, and the last thread that you dug up in the S10 forum was old, as well.

If you would like to remain a member of this site, you need to read the forum guidelines and follow them. Failure to do so will result
in termination of your account and you will be unable to create a new one.

Thank you and have a nice day.
