Get an 88 GT. I let one slip through my fingers, for $3000 CDN(pennies), with about 40k on it. Leather. 5 speed. Babied.

I've been kicking my seldom employed self in the ass for a while now.

80RWhp .042/.026 nitrous express.. with no problems.. runnin 124RWHP .052/.033 i cracked the rear head but the car still ran fine for another 400 miles and 2 bottles. till i put ported heads and stainless valves on it and ran the .052 for another 9 months till i sold the car.

my Sonoma has .059/.037 jetting on it... about an additional 130hp.

Depends how old it is. If it's got plenty of miles on it just about anything would make it go flying apart.

The Edelbrock Performer EFI wet N02 system is adjustable for a 50-70hp shot. A HEALTHY (aka pulled apart and rebuilt as stock) 2.8 would take that no problem. The use of premium fuel is a must, and an upgraded fuel system and retarded ignition timing are recommended by Edelbrock.

NOT TRUE... 86k, 127k, 95k miles is when i started spraying my 3 fieros... the only one i ever poped was my own fault for runnIng much to large of a jetting, attemping to double it's power output(165hp .072/.044). my Sonoma has 70k miles on it and it's got nitrous on it.. and has for over a year... (12k miles) i've installed probly 30 systems and the only failures were operator error eg.-power hungry owners-. a 75-90hp addition on stock internals on a 60* V6 isn't a problem 125-150+ is. 93 octane, along with sticky tires makes for one hell of a fun ride! when installed with sanity and self control nitorus is your best friend.. when one gives in to the urge to "aaagh, just swap the pills and see if it'll work" is when you break things.

the highest miles car i've ever installed a system on is 220k mile Toyota Corolla 4agze AE86 Hatch... that was 2 years and over 40k miles.. granted it's atoyota but we're spraying through the supercharger, and not a peep out of it. 65hp makes 244hp at the ground.

My friend has an 88 formula with the 2.8 and he is planning on running a 75 shot that was on another friends honda and another friends blazer. His formula has 50k on it. Will a 75 dry shot hurt? What about a wet shot? Can you put more than one purge on a line? We wanted to put a few on his car for shittz and gigglz

Re: need a FAST toy?

The advice on not putting N02 systems on higher mileage engines was more "It could" then anything. A lot can happen to an engine in 100,000 miles and if you didn't buy the car new and it came from the local bargain car lot you may not have a clue how the original owner (or 2nd, 3rd, or 4th) treated it. A valve guide, rod bearing, or head gasket that's otherwise a few thousand miles from showing trouble could instantly go under the extra strain of even a light injection of n02. If anything it's a good idea test the engine's compression and pull the valve covers and oil pan for a good solid inspection. Sure, you might get lucky with just a "bolt it on and find out" approach but remember in Russian roulette the biggest winning streak is still only five times out of six.

Dry shots are safer then wet shots, but most dry systems deliver too powerfull a shot for a stock cast piston engine. Dry systems are also not universal fit.

I'm sure your Friends Fiero would handle a 75hp shot BUT Formulas are harder to find and pretty valuable. If it was my car I wouldn't do ANYTHING that *could* damage the original numbers matching engine block.

Re: Re: need a FAST toy?

1.Most dry and wet systems are universal. Most systems are universal except direct port. I can take my kits (zex & nos) for my honda and put it on my friends alero.

2.How can a dry kit be safer than a wet kit if the leading cause of engine failure is detonation from lean conditions. Which means more nitrous and not enough fuel. A wet shot sprays fuel and nitro at the same time.

My friend isn't too worried about the 2.8 blowing up b/c we have a bulletproof 307 waiting to go in.

Re: need a FAST toy?

Dry nitrous systems supply nitrous directly into the intake stream. The extra fuel is supplied through the injectors by raising the pressure or changing the duty cycle. There ARE universal dry kits but they are far common. Wet systems are almost always universal, easier to install, but less efficient.

If your friend isn't worried about blowing the motor on the formula then hey, let 'er rip. I was just pointing out it's collectible value is all. Different strokes for different folks, it's all cool

Re: need a FAST toy?

Would a 75 shot (for example) add 75 horsies and 75 torque?
