1991 Transmisson

Bought the car in the summer all is well

Fall is here in canada

I noticed that when it is cold outside when i go to start the car and put it in drive it will not move and there seems to be a serge in the headlights when applying the gas while in drive thou the car does not want to move.. it works fine in reverse....

only when the car as been sitting warrming up for 4-6 mins will it finaly move forward and work in Overdrive, Drive, 1 & 2

This is sign that tranny problems are comming?

It only does this in the cold on our warm days in the morning i've had no problem turn over and driving off

Re: 1991 Transmisson

have you ever changed the trans filter? The fluid is thickest when cold, and won't pass thru a dirty filter. Reverse is the highest pressure gear, so it makes sense that it still works, but the other gears won't until the fluid warms up and thins out.
