Re: System keeps on shutting off! need help plz!

stop listening to the retards at audio shops, they don't care about you or your car, all they care about is your wallet. That's why they kept recommending crap that you don't need and won't help your problem, if you went back they would probably tell you some lie about how you need a bigger cap, or you need more expensive rcas, etc.

Now, when it shuts off on you, is everything turning off or just the sub? Do the protection lights on any of the amps come on? Do you have a multimeter? What do you have to do to get the system to come back on, just wait a couple seconds, wait a couple minutes, turn it off and back on....?

my friends kept doing that, turned out being the inline battery fuse, (agu type) It didnt blow, it just couldnt handle that much current being forced throught all at once, or something, maybe the wires were too small, get a smalle guage wire from the batt to the amp, and make sure your ground is very very tight.

when it dies at volume 25, the jl 1000 amp "LOW V" light goes on. but i changed the battery to an optima which i heard gives it more power to the amp... when i lower the volume it comes back on...

Re: System keeps on shutting off! need help plz!

I stand by my post, you can get the biggest best battery ever, but the wires you are using might not be able to handle that much current. I would get a smaller guage amp wiring kit. Smaller guage = Thicker wire. What guage are you using now? My friend is using 4 guage to hit an 800W amp. It works great. If your amp is 1000 watts, you might want to consider 4 guage, I wouldn't go any smaller than 6 guage though, 6 guage might work, but not as good as 4 guage. Make sense?

Re: System keeps on shutting off! need help plz!

yeah, no shit, dont waste 300 bux, capacitors arent worth the metal they are made out of. you dont need that shit. Disconnect all your wiring, and make sure your connections arent corroded, and make sure they are tight. There may be a spot in the power wire between the amp and battery where the coating is stripped, and it is in contact with ground. This would cause a little amount of current to flow through there, instead of through the amp. Please check all your wiring before you waste some more money on a shitty ass cap.

Re: System keeps on shutting off! need help plz!

If all else fails, bring your amp in and have it checked out, it must still be under warrenty, I really doubt that you need a fuckin 3 farad capacitor. when the bass hits, do your headlights dim, b/c if they do, then maybe you do need a cap, but if not, then it might be a bad amp or bad connection. Please take our advice before you stick all your money into nothing (capacitors).
