Re: Oh Goodness, Another Problem

I believe PIA... the bulb behind my fuel guage went out my dad said just wait till more go out to fix it since its such a major PIA. How bad is it? Cuz on mine i can still see where the needle is so its not too big a deal

Re: Oh Goodness, Another Problem

Its not a huge pain but its tedius work. You have to take the cluster out and then theres lots of little lights to change. Alot of guys upgrade to leds and put in white face gauges so maybe nows the time to do that if you like.

Re: Oh Goodness, Another Problem

changing the bulbs isnt a PITA at all.. its simple actually.. should take about an hour maybe a little longer if you've never done it before.. But first, make sure you talk to a guy at the dealership to make sure you can get replacements.. (its not just a bulb, you havto buy the little bulb and socket)

Take the cover off under the steering column.. (two large torx bolts) than pull the knob off your headlight switch, and pull the plastic trim off around your gauges.. you'l havto have your wheel tilted all the way down, and play with it a little bit to get the trim off.. and you'l havto unhook the foglight switch, and lighter harness from the back of the trim.. then theres a bunch of 8mm screwes to take the plastic "window" off your gauges, than the gauge bezel, than there will be a few more screws around the outside to take the gauge cluster out, it should pull right out.. on the back of the cluster, there are a bunch of little grey things, they are the bulb sockets.. just turn them and pull them out

Re: Oh Goodness, Another Problem

well you see the thing about that is, no. i extremely carefully manipulated the glow gauges around the needles. probably not the brightest idea (get it? brightest, theyre glow gauges) but it worked for me.

also, i got them from ebay for i think 15 bucks...

Re: Oh Goodness, Another Problem

pretty much all you have to do is match up with the make, model, and year. the only trick is finding the ones for your engine. for the 4th gens, the speedometers were different for the v-6 and v-8 cars. other than that there's not much to it...

Re: Oh Goodness, Another Problem

Yea, I got my set from ebay as well and they just come with basic instruction for all cars, and they say to start the car and get it to normal op temp. draw or take a pic of the cluster and mark where the needles are set, then turn it off, remove it all including the needles, then put them on in those positions while running again I think, why can't you just take them off while the car is off and put them back the same way they were?
