are PA's speed limited??
hi,
i got my PA SC 92 to about..well over a 100 ..anyway the speedo stops at 100 so i don't know but by my estimate, i'd say about 110 mph and it clipped... like there was a rev limiter or something.. is that what they called speed limiter ?? it pulls alright to that pojnt and then ,... nenenenenene sound.. i find it hard to believe they would speed limit that when my old corolla 5 sp with a cone would be going all the way to 120... deadring |

Re: are PA's speed limited??
most domestic cars are limited.
Since most none domestic(like toyota...) cars are also sold in germany, where no speed limit exists (on most parts of the autobahn), they don't have the limit. BTW: my 97 PA is goes up to 107mph (so does my 02 Ford Explorer) fischmama |

My 92 PA is limited to 124mph, proven at a test station.

Re: are PA's speed limited??
rotaran, you live in germany right? it be understandable that your PA has a higher top speed since you live in a place where you have very nice highways which some have no speed limits
![]() so if i buy a ECU from a german PA it will have a higher top speed ![]() heheh i wish ![]() deadring |

Yeah, but meanwhile many highways are limited and most time full of cars. Itīs even very rare to use the cruise control.

Re: are PA's speed limited??
luckily not in the area where i used to live. I was wondering how much you pay for insurance over there, if you don't mind me asking(i couldn't find any companys that lists a PA), and do you getter a better mileage with the better fuel over there(i get about 23-24mpg with almost germany like driving, which translates into roughly 10L/100km)??
I was thinking about shipping my 97 PA over there when i move back in a couple of years. thx |

@fischmama:
Well, the PA ist not listed in Germany, but most insurances use the codes of the Riviera (same HP). So i pay 43$/month for the basic insurance. I have 23-24mpg, too. btw: Whatīs "germany like driving"? Mike

107 is the limit.. which sucks.. basically the terminology is ( Governed ).. all cars are governed except for non US cars etc.

Re: are PA's speed limited??
I was referning mostly to speeds. On highways i drive 60+mph (100km/h+ - Landstrassen) and on the tollway = autobahn to me.
Germany - car uses more gas due to higher speed us - car uses less gas due to continueus driving at lower speeds Deiner hat aber 'nur' 172 PS(steht so auf deiner homepage) meiner hat 205 PS, das heisst ich muss noch was tiefer in die tasche greifen. thx |

Re: are PA's speed limited??
Is there a way to get rid of the speed limiter?? I'd imagine you'd have to install a type of "speed chip" or another modified computer chip. Such a sad story....those 3.8 supercharged engines are such strong engines and are capable well over their limited horsepower ranges and top speeds. I wonder if there are any performance chips out there for park avenues 94-98 years?? I always heard bad about modified chips so i haven't really looked into it.

Quote:
some interesting conversations... first 98 % of germanys autobahn has a speed limit, besides that the environmentalist try to push for a speed limit of 100% on the autobahn and to top it off 19 mph in the entire city! most cities already have large areas within the city limited to that speed. ridicolous. besides gas is going to cost you 4.5 to 5 times more than in the states. as far as your insurance question is concerned (i do sell them) at 30% insurance cost me 27 euro a month for the basic state mandated insurance, that equals approx $35 US. As far as calculating insurance is concerned, germany no longer uses hp to determine your insurance rate, it is now determined more after the type of car you drive as well as your living conditions, you get certain rebates depending on the amount of km you drive a year, if you own a house, and so on. so your 205 hp will make no difference, being a rare car you will not pay such a high insurance compared to other mass produced cars in germany, i actually pay less for my car than other with smaller engines and less horsepower.it all has to do with how many vehicles of this type are involved in accidents, because there is such a limited number of us cars in germany they are fairly cheap to insure. and yes this particular car is not even listed in the insurance books, so it depends on the agent and insurance how he would calculate the premium for you, and there are major differences from agent to agent and insurance to insurance, some companies would not even ensure the vehicle. make sure you bring some info on how long you had a car insured in the states and have been without no accident, your insurance company will issue such a statement if asked, if you bring those papers you start at a lower percentage if you would not bring a statement. but if you ask me, Stay where you are!Germany stinks! |
