How to check transmission fluid 98 trooper
Guys
Can you some please tell me how to check transmission fluid in 98 troope I can't find the dip stick |

I hope for your sake the prior owner checked this sometime before now. In fact the fluid should probably have been changed a couple of times by now, if not changing it now could lead to all sorts of problems.
In any event to answer your question, there are 2 plugs on the bottom of the tranny. The lower one is the drain. The upper is the fill. Fluid should just drip out the upper plug when it is removed on a warm (not hot lest you burn yourself and set the wrong level) tranny that has recently been shifted through all the gears with the engine running and the tranny in park. I repeat the engine must be running or you will end up about 1 qt. low. The only dipstick involved is the "genius" who designed this system. |
