"Honk" lock confirmation not sounding?

I have a '99 Sport Cherokee. My problem is that when I lock the doors with the transmitter (fob) it doesn't give me the "honk" notification.

I pressed the "panic" button and that works, and the car honks in panic mode.

but once again, my Jeep won;t give me the locked confirmation honk.

Any ideas?

try pressing the unlock button and while holding it press the lock button and hold both buttons for a few seconds.i'm not 100% sure on that but i think that was the procedure to enable and disable the rke horn chirp as they call it
