Power steering Fluid
I replaced my power steering fluid last night.
I bought the normal clear powersteering fluid. I noticed the fluid coming out of the powersteering housing was red. Why was it red? Did they use Dextron-III instead? Would it be better to stick with Dextron-III in the powersteering housing? I know in fords its better to use tranmission fluid in the pump if it making noise but what about chevys???? Thanks for any insight. I drove my old ford last night and tell y'all I do not miss it one bit. |

GM used to use Dexron fluid in both the transmission and power steering. The red fluid you are seeing is normal, some power steering fluid is red and some is clear.
