Confessions of a bad driver...

I did something last night that I am NOT proud of.

I was leaving the pizza place for a delivery, and It was dark, and I was waiting at the intersection at the end of the driveway where I came from for over 3 minutes.
I finally got a break and went, but to my left, there were 3 cars parked so my vision was nearly 0%, the only vision I had was the lights of other cars.
Well, I couldn't see this 4x4, the fucker was speeding anyway, nothing happened, he just slamed on his break and started blaming me. He was going at least 65, but I got really stressed about that.

Then, I was stuck between this prick doing 40, in a 50 zone, and I was working so I had a time limit. For 5 minutes he was doing 40, and every second my patience grew thin. I ended up taking him on a corner, as it was dark, I misjudged the degree of the corner. We didn't hit or anything, I just was an asshole at the whole thing. I also ended up having to stop just 100m up the road. God I'm a dickhead. We nearly hit (well...I nearly hit him). I just kept thinking to my self "oh god, why the hell did I just do that? Now I'm the asshole that I complain about...Such a hypcrite"

This is the first time I've done anything stupid like this in 13 months of having my licence.

Just needed to tell someone, I haven't told anyone this yet.

I plan on calming down in the future, this is just pathetic on my behalf.

i'll PM you my address so you can send me the apology-beer.

only when it arrives will i forgive you.

don't sweat it though, man. everybody gets impatient sometimes, does something stupid, and lives to beat themselves up about it. i know i've done my fair share (passing a car and only seeing the car coming towards me after i'd swung into the other lane...and continuing to pass instead of getting back behind the guy, forcing the oncoming vehicle to swerve onto the gravel shoulder). accidents do happen this way, but just don't let your anger and impatience get the better of you behind the wheel.

now where's my beer?

Re: Confessions of a bad driver...

ouch

dude, I drank all the beer! Literally! *crys* I haven't had beer since...5 days ago.

I'm only worried about it, because I want to learn from this. I was in mum car, so if anything went wrong...I'd be stuffed...

there's another example of me doing stupid stuff too, come to think of it.

one of the guys from Suislide came over for dinner (his parents and my parents are good friends. that's how we initially met). he hadn't seen my mom's car yet (2004 Accord V6 4-door, 240hp), so i took him out for a rip in it.

it was raining, slippery and wet. so here i am doing 90 in a 60 (km/h) in my mom's brand new $40,000 car. i took one corner without slowing down and it was fine. didn't slow down for the next one either, not realizing it was a bit sharper.

hit the corner, back end of the car steps out. it's an FWD car, but the rear end still stepped out.

so here i am, in my mom's brand new $40,000 car, going completely sideways, SPEEDING, in a residential area, with 2 of my friends in the car that i was certain i was about to kill.

when all of a sudden i caught the slide and the car snapped back.

it was so seamless that my friend actually thought i did it on purpose and said "nice job!"

i didn't tell them it was an accident, but i've been slapping myself for that ever since, realizing how ruined my life would be right now if the Gods weren't watching my ass that day. i won't do something that stupid again unless it's on a track.

I have done my share of dumb crap. Cutting people off, Going fast and furious style on the highway, back when I had the Caddy. At least i used my directionals. Breaking 100mph many many times. And showed a lot of ricers the true potential of a cadillac.

Re: Confessions of a bad driver...

heh suislide, the rear of a fwd car stepping out isnt a problem at all, just countersteer and everythings all gravy. Do it all the time when no ones around (going to work at 5 in the morning) and even in gravel.

lol, man you don't think i've done it before?

back when i had my shitty old Pontiac last year (Chevy Corsica with Pontiac badges, FWD), i would e-brake that thing around corners all the time.

the only reason i was so scared that time was because a)it wasn't planned, b) i was going real fast and it was slippery, c) it was my mom's brand new car, and d)i thought i was going to kill my friend and his younger brother who were in the car with me, or at least injure them.

you know how thoughts run through your head in a moment of crisis. but my drift instinct (haha, sounds like spidey sense) told me what to do and i reacted properly, handled the situation and came out unscathed.

Re: Confessions of a bad driver...

Comming to the bottom of a hill, where there was a stopsign, I pulled off of the road, onto the sidewalk, and drove around it so I wouldn't feel like I had to stop. Funny thing was, a Police car was right behind me, and he didn't pull me over for this stunt.
This was by far the worst thing I've ever done.
