my other site

Just put up our other site finally.

http://www.lcharris.com/

Me and my wife built it in 8 hours.

I like the simple clean look, but there's not enough cars for me. In your opinion would adding a car specific link take too much away from the more design based focus?

Re: my other site

some reason front page loads only top banner, then stops. only grey field. tried refresh, no good. maybe it is just me. but cannot see anything.

as for your query: what do you want to do with the site?

if you are concerned with mixing identities, then yes, it is too much.

IMHO, trying to be a carpenter, a bricklayer, a baker, a machinist, a public speaker, a comedian, an astronomer, and a window-washer all on one business card, one site, comes off as hokey and gay.

have one identity per business model. even auto-makers do this: "lexus." what the fk is that? >>> toyota. that is all. but they see the effectiveness in the USDM of different brand identities. that may not be an exact template analogy, but i hope you see the parallel.

with my visual homage company, i will start with cars as an identity, then create different divisions within it, like a car manufactuer. i may even call the other part(s) something else to set it/them apart commercially. but i will more than likely incorporate that main identity, visual homage, for tax reasons, and have subsidiaries within it. like Disney and Miramax -same company, different faces of the same company. lots of folks today still have no idea they are the same. Disney: cute bunnies and shit. Miramax: nudity and killing and shit like that.

Re: my other site

I think it is right on, for a personal, informational site that shows you and your wife's mad skillz.

I think her side needs to be more like yours as far as the thumbnails w/ the image opening up to the right, but perhaps that isn't possible for her fine art and publications links.

Hey, Lemorris would you share how you did the thumbnails w/ the full size images opening up? I really like that.

My site is almost complete. Right now I am using JavaScript to open up a window (same size as my images) it works great but I like what you do better.

Thx

Re: my other site

I found the image script here:

http://www.dynamicdrive.com There are tons of cool scripts there with instructions.

For the one I used I copied the javascript to the head section which was basically an array (path to your big pictures) and then I nemed a table cell dynloadarea like the instructions said. Then with my little thumbnail images I put the load image into the cell code.

download the source from my portfolio page and then open it with your web authoring tool. I didn't hide it.

I figure someone shared with me....
