gotta be carefull with that, you will get alot of "just turbo charge it" around here and 3si.org. infact we have a discussion about that going on right now under "questions about supercharging my 3000GT" why dont you check it out.

Re: just full of weird questions

I dunno if it's really safer, cuz a bunch of people with the Knight Supercharger for the GT said that the damn thing either doesn't fit, and if u get it to fit, than it'll blow out ur engine in a few months... hopefully RIPP mods'll get a nice one goin for a DOHC like they did with the SOHC...

tru, it probably blows out people's engines b/c they turn the boost up too much. with our NA engines, the compression ratio is 10:1, and that will only allow us to run about 7psi boost max, whether you turbo or supercharge it. However, the VR4 engine has a compression ratio of 8:1, which allows it to run higher boost. you do the math.

Absolutely true, running boost on a 10:1 compression will risk blowing the engine, but then that only enforces my belive that turbo charging and not swapping the pistons is a bad idea. quite frankly I have turbo converted a few cars and this is the first time I see people turbo charge a car w/out swapping the pistons from the VR-4. afterall it is easier to turn up the boost on a turbo then a SC.
as far as the Knight turbo kit, its not that the engine blows cause of too much boost, these guys run it from 5 1/2 to 7 psi, the problem is the air/fuel management that the kit uses is really weak and I guess it fails after a while causing the cars to run lean and KABBBBOOOOOOMMMMMM.

the ripp mods kit will be the safest route, those guys put alot of effort into thier product and run test after test after test to ensure it wont fail but WILL THEY EVER FINISH THE DAM THING! thier kit for the DOHC is still in prototype phase, it'll be another year before they can say they found the right settings for "safe power"
it took them over 2 years to develope the SOHC kit but look at that kit! its bullet proof, effective and safe. so yeah supercharging will be awsome since it delivers maximum power at low band, in the street you can smoke from light to light, just dont mess with any VR-4s when you get to the highway.

Re: just full of weird questions

From my understanding, which may be wrong also, basically higher compression = more hp. lower compression = ablity to run higher boost on turbo and sc. running boost with high compression takes the chance of blowing the motor. It all depends on the condition of the motor and tuning.

Re: just full of weird questions

You can always have some custom made and its not much more expencive than buying them from a tuner.
